Alpine Arena is pleased to recommend How Stean Gorge as an introduction to via ferrata. It is set in a spectacular limestone gorge in the Yorkshire Dales. This steep sided chasm is almost 1km in length and up to 20 metres (80ft) deep. Follow winding walkways, explore caves and tunnels or challenge yourself on the new Via Ferrata course.
Wade through gushing water, traverse on ladders and beams, abseil 45 ft, slide through spouts and sit under waterfalls.
What’s included?
Each group has a maximum of 6 participants. All safety equipment is provided. So far participants have ranged from 7 years to 72 years. Recommended for 7+ years. Advance booking required.
The duration of each session is approx. 3 hrs. Sessions begin at 10am and 2pm each day. A DVD of each experience is included. This is filmed using a high spec head cam fixed on the guide’s helmet.
